Can any concrete surface be overlaid?

Most concrete can be overlaid as long as it is structurally sound. While we can repair minor cracks and surface scaling, an overlay cannot fix deep structural settling or "moving" cracks. We perform a thorough site evaluation to ensure your base is a good candidate for the process.

How long do concrete overlays last?

When properly installed and maintained, a high-quality overlay can last decades. Because they are polymer-modified, they are incredibly durable and resistant to UV rays, chemicals, and freeze-thaw cycles. Regular resealing every 3-5 years will keep it looking brand new.

How thick is a typical overlay?

It depends on the system. Micro-toppings are paper-thin (about the thickness of a credit card), while stamped overlays usually range from 1/4" to 1/2" thick. This allows us to transform the look without creating significant height issues for doors or transitions.

Are overlays slippery when wet?

Safety is a priority. For outdoor areas like pool decks or patios, we incorporate slip-resistant additives or textures (like knockdown finishes) into the overlay or sealer to provide traction even when the surface is wet.

How long does the installation process take?

Most residential projects are completed within 3 to 5 days, depending on the complexity of the design and the required drying time between coats and sealers. You can usually walk on the surface within 24 hours of the final seal.
